When the parks are merged, the result is the biggest protected area in Africa. The Kruger National Park has 147 distinct species of large animals, more than any other game reserve. Kruger National Park is a sanctuary for bird watchers, home to 517 different bird species. The national park is home to 114 different kinds of reptiles, including crocodiles, rock pythons, and black mambas. Kruger National Park is a part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a joint undertaking of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. This peace park encompasses many national parks, including Kruger National Park, Gonarezhour National Park in Zimbabwe, and Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. Exploring the many creatures in the three parks might take many days for visitors.

The Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, according to UNESCO, includes the national park. Red bush-willow and mopane veld, knob-thorn and marula veld, and shrub mopane veld are the four different vegetational areas of the park. The park rises and falls in height, reaching 2,760 feet at its highest point from 660 feet (200 m) at its lowest point (840 m). The highest mountain is mentioned, Khandzalive. The Sable, Olifants, Crocodile, Letaba, Luvuvhu, and Limpopo Rivers are only six of the rivers that pass through the park.
